Payments & receipts
From the sale, choose Checkout to take payment. The payment methods you see are the ones set up for this till under Ways to take money.
Take payment
- Cash. Enter the cash received; the till shows the change to give.
- Card / bank / customer account. Choose the method and confirm the amount.
- Split payment. When the till has two or more methods, add a tender for part of the balance and another for the rest. A running Remaining shows what’s left.
Only cash gives change. A card or transfer can’t be recorded for more than the amount still due — pay the exact remaining balance with those methods.
Choose Charge to complete the sale.
Card and bank payments
The till does not drive a physical card reader. For a card payment, your cashier runs the transaction on the card machine itself, waits for it to approve, and then records it on the till by entering the approval code and choosing Approved. Bank transfers work the same way — the cashier records the reference number.
These references are required for card/bank methods (so every non-cash payment is traceable) and they print on the receipt next to the payment.
Receipt
After Charge, the till shows Sale complete. You can:
- Print the receipt — this uses your device’s normal print dialog, so it works with any printer your device can print to. (If your till is connected to a receipt printer over a serial cable, it prints directly.)
- Email the receipt to the customer.
- Start a New sale.
From the Sales screen you can reopen a past sale to reprint (the copy is marked as a reprint) or email the receipt again.
Invoicing
Whether a sale produces a tax invoice depends on your market’s rules:
- Invoice on every sale (automatic). The sale panel shows “Invoice · Automatic”. The invoice is created when you charge. The till will block the charge until the sale can be invoiced — for example it needs a valid customer ID (or a walk-in within the allowed limit) and every product on a valid tax. The till tells you what’s missing.
- Invoice after payment (manual). The sale panel shows “Invoice · After payment”. Ring the sale first, then choose Issue invoice on the receipt when you have the customer’s details.
Electronic invoicing (e.g. Ecuador SRI)
For markets with electronic invoicing, the authorized invoice (such as an Ecuador factura) is produced by your commerce backend’s tax localization — not by the till. After the sale, the till sends the invoice for authorization and then shows its status. The till only surfaces a problem, for example “Not sent” or “{authority} rejected” with the reason. Once authorized, the receipt shows the invoice number and the access key.
A sale is never blocked waiting for electronic authorization — it is sent in the background and retried if needed. For this to produce a real authorized invoice, your commerce backend must be configured for that country’s electronic invoicing.
