Refunds
A refund at the till returns money to the customer and puts the returned items back into stock.
Refund a sale
- Go to the Sales screen and open the completed sale.
- Choose Refund items.
- Set the quantity to return on each line. You can’t return more than was bought (minus anything already refunded).
- Choose how to return the money — a payment method; cash is the default.
- Add an optional reason, then choose Refund.
The till confirms the amount returned and that the items are back in stock. Refunds are also listed on the Refunds screen.
Returning cash takes that money out of the drawer, so it shows up in your shift’s cash reconciliation at close.
Who can refund
Issuing refunds is a separate permission. If a cashier isn’t allowed to give refunds, the till will say so — ask a cashier who has the refund permission, or enable it on the cashier’s account.
Invoiced sales
A till refund is a point-of-sale reversal: it returns the money and restocks the items, but it does not issue a credit note (for example an Ecuador nota de crédito) against the original invoice.
If the original sale was invoiced and you need a credit note, raise it in the back office against that invoice. The counter refund and the credit note are two separate steps.
